Is it easy for you to get your ideas heard? Are you in tune with what you really want? Do you feel a connection to divine inspiration? I learned Dynamind, an energy healing tool, from Serge Kahili King, PhD. Here, you can try it to strengthen your Throat Chakra, and be able to shout YES to the three questions above.

THE THROAT CHAKRA
Located in the back of the throat area, the fifth chakra, the Throat Chakra, is the focal point of sound, communication and self-expression. This chakra center allows us to hear and understand information, express our inner truth and make ourselves heard. It vibrates with the energy of the color sky blue.

Emotional or mental health issues include criticism of the self or others, excessive talking or the inability to find the right words, shyness and frustration. Physical health issues commonly associated with the Throat Chakra include sore throats, upper respiratory illnesses, thyroid problems, stiff neck and stuttering.

When the Throat Chakra is balanced, you have confidence in your beliefs and the words to express them, the ability to hear and communicate well with others, and it allows the heart and the head to align.

USING DYNAMIND TO BALANCE THE THROAT CHAKRA
1) FOCUS - Hold your hands out in a loose prayer-like position.

2) DECLARE – Say aloud the condition you’re feeling that you would like to change, e.g.,

“I feel nauseous knowing I have to give a speech and I know that can change. I want that feeling to go away.”

“I have an earache and I know that can change. I want that pain to go away.”

If you have no symptoms to release, you can use Dynamind to strengthen the Throat Chakra, with a declaration such as:

“I’m not as articulate as I want to be. I want to impact others with my knowledge, with a strong voice like the best of teachers.”

3) RELEASE - Tap 7 times on the center of your chest, then at the point between the thumb and forefinger of each hand, and on the top bone of your spine (the 7th cervical vertebra).

4) BREATHE – Direct your breath, inhaling with your attention on the crown of your head, exhaling with your attention below your feet.

Repeat until you feel the desired result.

I learned Dynamind from Huna Healer Serge Kahili King, PhD. It can be used to quickly and simply resolve tension that is blocking chakras, creating physical, emotional and spiritual dis-ase. Dynamind is similar to EFT, but uses just four simple tapping movements, in concert with breath and words, to release blocked energy flow.

Usind Dynamind to balance the Heart Chakra can bring forth more love and compassion in your life….

Located at the center of the chest, the fourth chakra, the Heart Chakra, represents selfless love and devotion, kindness, empathy and compassion. It vibrates with the energy of the color green.

Physical health issues commonly associated with the Heart Chakra include cardiovascular problems including hypertension, stroke, respiratory ailments, upper back and shoulder pain.

Emotional or mental health issues include anger or resentment, jealousy, suspicion, possessiveness, fear of commitment, lasting grief, sorrow, depression.

When the Heart Chakra is balanced, you feel free to give and receive love in all its expressions – passion, caring, rapport, understanding, empathy, compassion and forgiveness.

USING DYNAMIND TO BALANCE THE HEART CHAKRA

1) FOCUS – Hold your hands out in a loose prayer-like position.

2) DECLARE – Say aloud the condition you’re feeling that you would like to change, e.g,

“I feel sad and depressed and I know that can change. I want that feeling to go away.”

“I have tightness and pain in my back and I know that can change. I want that pain to go away.”

If you have no symptoms to release, you can use Dynamind to strengthen the Heart Chakra, with a declaration such as:

“I’m not as caring as I want to be. I want to nurture and reach out to others like the wind blowing through the leaves of a tree.”

3) RELEASE – Tap 7 times on the center of your chest, then at the point between the thumb and forefinger of each hand, and on the top bone of your spine (the 7th cervical vertebra).

4) BREATHE – Direct your breath, inhaling with your attention on the crown of your head, exhaling with your attention below your feet.

Repeat until you feel the desired result.

While simple to use, Dynamind has been found effective at releasing painful physical, emotional and mental problems. Serge Kahili King documents the use of Dyamind in his book, Healing for the Millions, available at

Are you feeling strong, determined and decisive? Are you confident you will achieve your goals? The balanced Solar Plexus Chakra will be your best friend in achieving success.

Located at the navel, the third chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, is the focal point of our identity, self-esteem and vitality. This chakra center governs how you assert your personal power, follow your gut instincts, take risks and make decisions. It vibrates with the energy of the color golden yellow.

Physical health issues commonly associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra include digestive problems including food allergies or leaky gut syndrome or candidiasis, low or high blood sugar, liver problems, gallstones and adrenal exhaustion.

Emotional or mental health issues include anger, poor self image, indecision, apathy, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and powerlessness.

When the Solar Plexus Chakra is balanced, you are confident, with a strong sense of purpose/mission in your life. You are self-directed, self-confident and self-empowered.

USING DYNAMIND TO BALANCE THE SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA

This unique mind-body tool is similar to the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), but I’ve found it to be much simpler to use, yet as effective. It was developed by Hawaiian healer Serge Kahili King, PhD, founder of Huna.org and Aloha International.

1) FOCUS – Hold your hands out in a loose prayer-like position.

2) DECLARE – Say aloud the condition you’re feeling that you would like to change, e.g.,

“I feel exhausted and I know that can change. I want that feeling to go away.”

“I have stomach cramps and I know that can change. I want that pain to go away.”

If you have no symptoms to release, you can use Dynamind to strengthen the Solar Plexus Chakra, with a declaration such as:

“I’m not as confident and energetic as I want to be. I want the fire in my belly to produce more power in my life.”

Are you fully expressing your creativity and sexuality?
Located at the lower abdomen, the second or Sacral Chakra is the focal point of our emotions, sexuality and creative expression. It is an especially important chakra for women to keep in balance. It is where we connect with the Divine Feminine.

This chakra governs how we relate to others and the flow of our feelings and expression in art, music, dance and living. It vibrates with the energy of the color deep orange and is associated with the element of water.

Emotional or mental health issues include sexual frigidity, promiscuity, confusion or addiction. If you experience imbalance in this chakra, you may also experience co-dependency, or being either overly emotional or stoic.

Physical health issues commonly associated with the Sacral Chakra include gynecological problems, urinary tract problems, stiffness or pain in the lower back.

When the Sacral Chakra is balanced, you feel confident in social interactions, free to process your emotions, feel creative, and able to enjoy sex and other pleasurable activities without guilt.

USING DYNAMIND TO BALANCE THE SACRAL CHAKRA
This fabulous yet so-simple healing technique is from Serge Kahili King, a Huna teacher and founder of Aloha International.

1) FOCUS – Hold your hands out in a loose prayer-like position.

2) DECLARE – Say aloud the condition you’re feeling that you would like to change, e.g.,

“I feel guilty and I know that can change. I want that feeling to go away.”

“I have a constant urge to urinate and I know that can change. I want that discomfort to go away.”

If you have no symptoms to release, you can use Dynamind to strengthen the Sacral Chakra, with a declaration such as:

“I’m not as easy-going as I want to be. I want to go with the flow, like a mountain stream.”

If you’re out of balance in your first or Root Chakra, you’re standing on very shaky ground. You don’t feel safe, secure, or supported by the earth.

Physical health issues commonly associated with the Root Chakra include lower back pain, sciatica, body weight issues, constipation, hemorrhoids, prostate problems, sexual dysfunction in men, and varicose veins.

Emotional or mental health issues include fear, anxiety, insecurity, extreme vulnerability, worry, grief, depression, self-centeredness, low self-esteem and distrust of others.

Located at the base of your spine, the Root Chakra is the very foundation of our identity, so it’s always wise to start your Chakra Balancing work here. This chakra is associated with basic survival and security in the world, groundedness, trust and boundaries. It vibrates with the energy of the color red.

When the Root Chakra is balanced, you feel strong and supported, safe, grounded, and peaceful.

USING DYNAMIND TO BALANCE THE ROOT CHAKRA

In my upcoming book, Chakra Secrects, I explain the Aha! moment I had when taught Dynamind by Serge Kahili King, PhD, a Hawaiian shaman and Huna healer. The technique can be used to reprogram the unconscious mind, to remove negative emotions and tell your body-mind what you’d like to experience – and it will follow your instructions. This works well to heal the imbalances of chakra energy.

1) FOCUS – Hold your hands out in a loose prayer-like position.

2) DECLARE – Say aloud the condition you’re feeling that you would like to change, e.g.,

“I feel anxious and I know that can change. I want that feeling to go away.”

“I have pain running down the back of my leg and I know that can change. I want that pain to go away.”

Dynamind affirmation to strengthen the Root Chakra:

“I’m not as strong and grounded as I want to be. I want to feel as grounded as the roots of a tree.”

 PREVIEW FROM CHAKRA SECRETS:

I learned an exciting, simple-yet-profound energy healing tool from Serge Kahili King, PhD, founder of the Huna group, Aloha International. Dynamind was a simplified version of the Energy Freedom Technique (EFT) and it did have similarities to it, Dr. King said. “But in Huna, we try to make things as simple as possible, as effective as possible, so we’ve combined the power of words, breath, movement and feeling into one mind-body healing technique.”

Dynamind can be used to heal a wide range of physical dis-ease, it was explained. You simply stated out loud what you wanted to change – the  problem, pain or discomfort – and tapped, breathed and felt it go away.

King advised asking yourself what emotion was a problem, where you felt that emotion in the body, and then work on changing that physical sensation to let the healing energy of the body once again flow freely. All emotion manifests within the body with some physical “feeling.” Just as chakra imbalances can manifest in uncomfortable physical and emotional problems.

So, I found myself repeating my personal problem, “I feel guilt tightening my chest, and I know that can change. I want that feeling to go away,” as I held my hands in a prayer position. Then I tapped just four spots, the heart center, the web between the thumb and first finger of each hand, and the knob at the back of my neck where it meets the shoulders. I finished with a deep breath, inhaling from the top of my head and exhaling through my feet.

I learned that you could work on the physical sensations you were experiencing and watch them change as Dynamind directed your subconscious. Emboldened with my new power to direct my inner, unconscious actions, I also tried, “I feel guilt cramping my stomach and I want that to change,” and “I feel the ache of anger in my chest and I want that to change,” and watched how the physical stress ebbed away the more I used Dynamind.

Huna seemed to offer the wisdom I’d been looking for. So I stayed on the Big Island. Many people, I found, come to Hawaii on vacation and are led to stay, for an extra week, or month or sometimes a lifetime. I was one of them. I didn’t even go back to California to pack up. After all, now that my hurt and disappointment were no longer part of my baggage, a few pareos and my computer were all I needed. I planned to live at the retreat center and to take as many workshops as I could in exchange for giving yoga and meditation classes. Wow, what a life.

“Focus on what you want, not on what you don’t want,” teaches Serge Kahili King, PhD, a Hawaiian shaman as he explains the Huna principle – Energy flows where attention goes. It sounds easy, but it’s not always. Can you focus on the health you have and ignore the aches and pains? Then more health will flow your way. Can you focus on the happiness in the world rather than the misery? Then more happiness will flow your way. Can you focus on abundance in all forms, instead of lack? Then more abundance will flow your way.

This concept is known the world over, but easily forgotten too. In one of Paulo Coelho’s recent blog posts, he mentions of complaining about one burnt- out Christmas light until his wife reminds him to look at the many that are brilliantly glowing.

Close your eyes and imagine what you want in the New Year. Focus on and bless everything and everyone that represents what you want. What’s so beautiful about this process is that the blessing (or praise) of others helps them as well as you.

For instance, if you want greater health in the new year, bless healthy people, animals, even healthy plants; bless everything that is well made or well constructed, advises King.

If you want greater prosperity, bless all signs of prosperity in your environment, including everything that money helped to make or do; all the money that you have in any form; and all the money that circulates in the world, King adds.

If you’d like to download a free copy of “The Aloha Spirit,” by Serge Kahili King, in which he further explains the power of focus and blessing, please see http://www.alohainternational.org/html/booklets.html.

Wishing you billions of shimmering blessings in the year ahead.

When I injured my lower back in a skiing accident, I was pleasantly surprised that most of my physical therapist's suggestions were yoga stretches. I was able to take it from there and carefully, after a month, return to my full daily yoga routine. But even after healing, I like many others, feel pain in the injured area when under stress (when I breathe in perfume or other chemicals, which causes inflammation in my body) or when angry (see Dr. Sarno's book, Healing Back Pain: The Mind-Body Connection). Pain specialists have also just done studies showing that the brain can become habituated to feeling pain, even after an injury has healed.

So, once again, I have to suggest mind-body healing techniques first, to retrain the subconscious, before undergoing more drastic medical inter-
vention.

DYNAMIND
The Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is used by thousands, maybe millions of people around the world. But my favorite "instant" healing technique is DYNAMIND, a similar yet much simpler technique, adapted by Serge Kahili King, PhD, an expert in Huna healing and Hawaiian shamanism.

How does it work? You hold your hands in a prayer position in front of your solar plexus chakra, or navel area, say what you're feeling, e.g., "I feel stabbing pain in my lower back and I know that can change. I want that pain to go away." Then tap seven times on the center of your chest above your thymus gland, then seven times on the web between the thumb and forefinger of each hand, then seven times on your neck at the knob where it meets your back. Then, with hands back in prayer position, take a deep breath in from the top of your head and let it out the bottom of your feet.

This technique uses words, motion, breath, acupuncture points, affirmations,  etc., to change your subconscious belief that your pain can't change. If one round focusing on the physical pain doesn't provide relief, work to change the emotions associated with the pain. For instance, say "I feel anger in my lower back and I know that can change. I want the anger to go away."

Becca, is there some lesson I need to learn before I can heal?
Frustrated in San Francisco

Dear Frustrated:
Pain and illness may be your body’s wake-up call that it is overstressed by poor diet and lifestyle, or by exposure to toxins, negative emotions or limiting beliefs. If you listen to the body’s first signals and make a change, you can recover more quickly than if you wait for a knock-out punch of serious or chronic illness.

"People change and heal when they have learned the lesson that the illness was trying to teach,” explained holistic counseling teacher Amara Karuna. “Pain and disease are always calls for attention from the body and soul. They are like flags showing where energy is stuck and blocked, and in need of loving and help.”

Making the decision to take responsibility for our own suffering and making the changes needed in our lives is the first step, according to Karuna. “It is essential to understand that no matter how the pain got there, we are the only ones who can really take care of ourselves,” she said. “Don't wait for someone else to love and care for you. Do unto yourself as you would have others do unto you. Also, reach out for support and help from others.”

“The mind-body system has almost unlimited self repair capabilities and any positive physical, emotional, and mental behavior will enhance a person's self healing abilities,” said King.

I encourage you to try stress reduction through yoga, meditation, chakra balancing... whatever works for you. And use your intuition to guide you to the right person to help you move toward positive change in your health and in your life.

As Hippocrates said, "Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease." In a recent discussion with Serge Kahili King, PhD, teacher of the Hawaiian Huna philosophy, he explained how everyone's body can achieve "instant healing" if there is no stress or tension. So that's where healers come in - they teach you to do yoga, meditate or chant, balance your chakras, do Qigong, exercise, breathe deeply, eat healthier food, perhaps take a pill to remove pain so that you can relax and heal. "All power comes from within," as King teaches in the Huna principles and that includes our power to heal. But we are all here on earth to help each other, and "healers" can help others to release the blocks in the flow of their healing energy. So, get that delightful massage, take that inspiring class, but put all your confidence and belief in your own ability to heal because, truly, all healing comes from within.
