When you have a well-balanced root chakra, you're well grounded, bonded well with your mother and with Mother Earth, and have a rich sense of security, sense of belonging and self-esteem.  One of the best ways to ground your root chakra is to get down on your knees and garden.  It's also the best way to celebrate Earth Day!  Plant some red flowers (the root chakra spins at the frequency of red light) and you'll experience a surge of vitality.

Thank you for your question.

The notion that to achieve higher consciousness, all one must do is to move, coax or mentally command our energies upward from our bases to our Crown Chakra and beyond bears discussing. If we are not grounded and energy flow to and from our Base Chakra is impeded, then our efforts to Chakra balance may be thwarted and we may become restless, hyperactive and explosively emotional.

Although helpful visualizations to ground oneself are highly personal, we may imagine ourselves as trees whose roots fan not only outward but downward into the firmament, "merging with gravity" as Dr. Anodea Judith has called it. This restoration of the natural flow of energy strengthens our body and spirit, literally bringing us back to earth, away from constant daydreams and life in a fantasy world.

Physically, the Warrior yoga pose brings clarity through stillness and stabilizes our Base Chakra, "our ladder to heaven, " as delightfully described by Sue and Simon Lilly.
Namaste,
Becca
