Becca, as a holistic healer, what do you recommend to treat my cancer?
Someone Suffering like Julie

Dear One,
I hope you are not suffering like my character Julie in The Chakra Diaries, who had Stage 4 melanoma - undiagnosed for 10 years after she first noticed her "spot" because she was an alternative healer who had been harmed by allopathic medicine in the past and refused to see medical doctors any longer.

The lesson we all learned from Julie is to take the best that all forms of healing have to offer. Yes, love in all its manifestations can heal the wounds of the world. But, don't turn your back on the best that modern technology and medicine has to offer.

I bow to what Julie's recommended in the book - make use of modern medicine for what it is best at doing, diagnosis and surgery. Then, change your life to change your condition, releasing all stress and tension to let your healing energy flow. On the physical level, this may involve a cleansing diet and other detoxification programs; on the emotional level, releasing fear and anger; on the mental level, releasing judgment and criticism; on the spiritual level, connecting to the divine presence all around us. On the subtle, energetic level, make use of chakra balancing, crystal healing, Reiki, herbal therapies, whatever your guidance leads you to.

I've been asked previously if I am against all chemotherapy. I'm not - some cancers may respond well to chemo - please research, research, research your type of cancer and available treatments. Whatever treatment you decide on, put all your faith and belief in it and your body will respond much better to it.

Many blessings,
Becca Chopra

When you're seeking balance and a sense of well-being in your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self, crystals can be simple, yet powerful tools.

Here is a simple Spectrum Chakra Balance you can do daily as a general balancing session, to reinforce your chakra energies and help them to return to normal functioning.

Choose a grounding stone (black, brown or dark red) to place between your feet. Then choose a stone or crystal corresponding to the different colors of the chakras, placing the red one between your knees, the orange right above your pelvic bone, the yellow right above your navel, the green over your heart center, the blue on your throat, indigo or dark blue on your forehead and a violet or clear stone on the floor just above the top of your head. Lie down with these stones in place for a period of about 5 minutes or until you feel complete, then remove the stones starting with the one above your head.
Relax for a few more minutes, still lying down, then enjoy a sense a well-being and balance, ready to face the stresses of the day ahead.

Chakras are centers within us where the currents of life's energies intersect. The yoga tradition has identified several types of energy centers, from the chakras, the major energy centers, to the marma points, the secondary energy centers, to the sandhis or simple junctions. In my yoga practice, we work to balance the chakra centers through meditation, toning, specific yoga poses and affirmations.  As we remove stagnation and open the flow of these energy channels, dramatic healing can occur.

Let's look at other traditions... In practice of the 5 Tibetan Rites, specific movements are used to energize the chakras.  In the ancient Q'ero Nation of Peru, Inka Master Healers use the placement of crystals on the chakra points to remove "heavy energy" and connect with the healing forces of nature.
