My good friend, Nicole Lawrence, recently introduced me to its methods of actually letting the feelings come up, and verbally agreeing to let them go, in the present moment, NOW. Instructing your body to release the stress and tension associated with a "feeling" works much more quickly than mentally trying to deal with your emotions - you'll just keep rationalizing your anger or fear.

The 4th or Heart Chakra is located at your heart center. It represents selfless love, kindness, compassion, and is where we store emotional experiences.

Signs of an unbalanced Heart Chakra include anger, insensitivity, depression, grief, despair, jealousy and sadness. When this chakra is balanced, we are able to give and receive love, be compassionate and feel true connection with others. We can enjoy our feelings. This is also where we begin to experience the power of pray and meditation, which emanate from this center.

YOGA POSES FOR THE HEART CHAKRA
The Spinal Twist opens and expands the heart center. The Head of Cow, where you reach your arms behind you to meet in the middle of your back, also opens the chest and relieves tension in the back and shoulders.

MEDITATION ON THE HEART CHAKRA
Feel the yellow sacral chakra light from the navel area travel up to the center of your chest, turning into a bright green, as it enters the home of the heart chakra. Breathe in and out the beautiful emerald green mist surrounding you with love, joy and compassion for yourself and others. Feel any tension blocking the flow of this love. Any anger is passed. Any fear is in the future. Heal these emotions in the now. When you let go of negative emotions, you'll relax the tension they create and feel your true essence of love and healing power flow. Send forgiveness to those who may have caused pain, wrapping them in the bright green light, cleansing and healing the situation. Release yourself and them from any negative connections, only keeping the good. Now, wrap yourself and your whole life experience in healing green light.

Several of the characters in The Chakra Diaries learn forgiveness in the course of chakra balancing, and their lives are freed from the restraints of negativity. Becca, as a holistic healer, what do you recommend to treat my cancer?
Someone Suffering like Julie

Dear One,
I hope you are not suffering like my character Julie in The Chakra Diaries, who had Stage 4 melanoma - undiagnosed for 10 years after she first noticed her "spot" because she was an alternative healer who had been harmed by allopathic medicine in the past and refused to see medical doctors any longer.

The lesson we all learned from Julie is to take the best that all forms of healing have to offer. Yes, love in all its manifestations can heal the wounds of the world. But, don't turn your back on the best that modern technology and medicine has to offer.

I bow to what Julie's recommended in the book - make use of modern medicine for what it is best at doing, diagnosis and surgery. Then, change your life to change your condition, releasing all stress and tension to let your healing energy flow. On the physical level, this may involve a cleansing diet and other detoxification programs; on the emotional level, releasing fear and anger; on the mental level, releasing judgment and criticism; on the spiritual level, connecting to the divine presence all around us. On the subtle, energetic level, make use of chakra balancing, crystal healing, Reiki, herbal therapies, whatever your guidance leads you to.

I've been asked previously if I am against all chemotherapy. I'm not - some cancers may respond well to chemo - please research, research, research your type of cancer and available treatments. Whatever treatment you decide on, put all your faith and belief in it and your body will respond much better to it.

The fourth or Heart Chakra deals with love and compassion and is the bridge between the three lower and three upper chakras. The Chakra Diaries' character, Julie, was able to let go of the unrelenting tension caused by long-held anger specifically toward her father, and generally toward the military, which exposed her to environmental poisons, through Chakra Balancing meditations such as this....

HEART CHAKRA MEDITATION
Feel the yellow sacral chakra light travel up the spine to the center of your chest, the home of the heart chakra. Breathe in and out a beautiful emerald green, with love, joy and compassion for other people and yourself.  Feel any tension blocking the flow here, shutting off or shutting out love. Any anger or fear is past, it can be healed. If you let it go, you’ll feel your true essence of love and joy. To send forgiveness, wrap those people who caused you pain in the bright green light, cleansing and healing the situation. If you can, see that the persons and situations that hurt you were in fact teaching you something you needed to learn. Or what they did was because of their own pain and fear.  Release yourself and them from any negative connection now, keeping only the good. Let go of anger to have space for love to grow. Now, with love and compassion, wrap yourself and your whole life experience in healing green light.

My friend and I just got back from a day-long chakra workshop and I was too embarrassed to discuss this with her…The pendulum showed that her sacral chakra as “open” while mine almost started a tornado whirling in the “closed” direction. We aren’t keeping score (okay, maybe I am) but she has more boy friends than Cleopatra while I am lucky to get a date to church and might as well be celibate. I think that most people consider me attractive and I like what I see in the mirror. So could potential partners be sensing my energetic lack of availability and shying away?

Dear Lincoln,
As we know, all of our seven chakras are interwoven and dependent on one another for healthy functioning, yet a closed second chakra can lead to a lack of intimate partners and as put by Dr. Anodea Judith, “sexuality is the water wheel of life that moves the earth below and tempers the fire above.” When couples are face to face, their chakras are aligned between them and as sexual excitement increases, their energetic vibrations are enhanced and woven together at the physical, mental and heart chakra levels as their experience leads them. It’s the old story of the rich getting richer, not only is your friend attracting more partners by having an open sacral chakra but she is amplifying her energy when engaging with them and thus attracting even more.

So, I would like to see you create change in your world by becoming conscious of any ways that you may be restricting the expression of your emotions and to work toward releasing them. For instance, do you find yourself literally or figuratively biting your tongue with friends, family and co-workers because you are yearning for their approval, embarrassed by your emotions in reaction to your own or other’s actions, or angry that others are not hearing you or caring about your feelings? My friends at The Center for Nonviolent Communication suggest that when we are upset that we realize what our unmet needs are, and work to resolve them without blaming others or even ourselves for not doing so.

For most people, including me, this is much harder to accomplish that it is to consider, but the journey is worth it, because expressed desires create movement (change), causing our life forces to flow like water to other beings around us (even men).
